LGBT Pride flag crafted by Karma Kutir:

The month long celebration conducted by the American Centre, Kolkata in the month of June, 2012, led to the unveiling of its signature LGBT pride flag. This flag made of Batik was crafted by the trainees of Karma Kutir. The prestigious ceremony was inaugurated by Jeffrey.K.Reneau the Director of American Centre, Kolkata. Well known personalities present at the event were Nil of designer duo Dev n Nil, Paramita Banerjee of NGO Sathi, and representative of US Consulate and LGBT Society.

Karma Kutir holds a Kantha Training Camp:

Following its Hand –Embroidery Training Camp for rural 25 local rural women, Karma Kutir organised an exhibition of their handiwork at South 24 Parganas District Library on 16.07.2012 it was inaugurated by Shri Mohan Naskar, president of Bishnupur Panchayat Samiti, and showcased the trainee’s capabilities in fine Kantha work and other types of stitching.

Drawing competition for children:

Lions club of Kolkata (Sealdah) organized a drawing competition for over more than 125 children at Karma Kutir’s Bosepukur centre on 5.8.2012. All participating children were awarded certificates and the best drawing were awarded with prizes. A sit and draw competition focussing on energy conversation was organised as karma Kutir’s Bosepukur centre with kind collaboration of M/S Cri Pumps. 75 students from local community participated, with Sudip Halder winning the first prize of Rs.3000/-

Award of excellence for Kantha work specialists trained at Karma Kutir:

The beneficiaries trained in Hand-Embroidery at the Hand-embroidery section of Karma Kutir participated in a prestigious Kantha work competition organized by Mallika Kantha to celebrate 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore. The Kantha work designed were based on Tagore’s poem “Krishna Kali”. At a special event held in Raj Bhavan, Kolkata on 18th February 2011 Karma Kutir received the ‘SHE’ Award of Excellence and the Kantha artists received prize money of Rs 25000/-.

Parivar Seva Kendra:

Parivar Seva Kendra (Inner Wheels by Sangeeta Mohta) in collaboration with Karma Kutir organized a Health Awareness Program in our Bosepukur center. On 20th of November 2013 at 2:00 pm. Smt.Anju Jhunjhunwala & Smt.Anita Hui members of Karma Kutir were present there in that program. They talked about female bodies, reproduction process and health problems and also discussed health issues regarding family planning etc. After that they recapitulated about the previous classes. Thirty underprivileged women were present in the program from the locality.

NUJS Legal Aid Society (NUJS-LAS)

NUJS Legal Aid Society (NUJS-LAS), in association with Karmakutir conducted a Legal Aid Camp on 16th November, 2013 at the Karmakutir Office on Bosepukur Center, Kolkata. The camp was conducted on the topic “Women’s Rights”. Students spoke on various topics pertaining to women’s rights such as their rights under marriage and divorce laws, maintenance, and custody of children. Topics such as dowry and domestic violence were covered. Four of the students put up a skit on domestic violence, where women were shown that domestic violence could be of two types- mental and physical. Women, through the play were encouraged to approach NGOs and the police during such situations.

Bhumi Puja - The foundation stone of Dr. Phulrenu Guha memorial centre for Integrated Development for Women and Children was laid at Bosepukur premises was laid byKarma Kutir’s President, Dr. Mukul Mukherjee and then by the members according to their seniority.

Lion’s club of Kolkata Rabindra Sarovar Drawing Competition  :

A drawing competition was organized by the Lions Club Kolkata Ravindra Sarovar. Over 75 children of the nearby area had assembled to take post and they were of different age groups i.e., 6 years and above.

Award: NGO Leadership Award  :

On the occasion of world CSR day KOLKATA NGO LEADERSHIP AWARDS recognized leaders who have contributed value and made a change as a strategic tool for sustainable growth. Karma Kutir received an award under the leadership category on this day.
